About

SFYSO

The Spanish Fork Youth Symphony Orchestra strives to better the musical education of each student. Our director, Marina Holt, has been teaching music for 12 years. Her practices focus on teaching kids the correct tools to be able to help themselves learn the art of music. Here at SFYSO, students bring their skills into a common setting to create greatness.

SFYSO offers different options to enhance the musical education of the youth. Each student has the option to send in a short recording of their skills to ensure that they are placed into the correct setting. Every student will always have a spot in the group!

Rehearsals are held once per week with concerts at the end of each semester.

Instruments

Here are some of the instruments that we have:

Violin

The most common instrument in the orchestra, split into first and second violin sections. Known for its bright, expressive sound and wide range.

Viola

Similar in shape to the violin but slightly larger, with a warmer, deeper tone. Violas often carry the inner harmony that supports the melody.

Cello

A larger, deep-toned instrument played while seated. Its rich sound provides both melody and harmony throughout a piece.

Bass

The largest and lowest-pitched string instrument, forming the rhythmic and harmonic foundation of the orchestra.
